“Two people, two people!” “That’s all you managed to kill!” Mayor Bridges screamed at his men, “two people is not gonna want to make this city go to war!”
All the men lowered their heads except for twenty-four.
“Hey! We tried, but the cops came and you gave us a direct order to leave if the cops got involved.”
“Grr,” “Now we are going to have to think of another plan for the citizens of Kirkson to hate Southland.”
“Why not another shooting at another place?” asked one.
“No! Nothing that can involve the cops they will just ruin everything!” Mayor Bridges yelled.
“We can take hostages again!” one man said.
“We can burn build buildings!” another cried.
“We can spray graffiti!” another guy said. Everybody stared at him for a minute then moved on.
“No, no, and no!” Bridges said, “I like how you guys are thinking, but here’s an idea I got.”
“All you guys break into the Kirkson Artifact Museum in the middle of the night, kill as many guards as you can, then take some of the best items and leave a note that will be typed saying you are the same people from the mall and that Kirkson will pay for what happened there, then come back here.”
Mayor Bridges deserved a standing ovation for that one and he got it. For twenty-four men the applause was humongous. Bridges gave a bow and said, “It’s on!”
Twenty-four came up to the mayor patted him on the back and whispered, “Oh it’s on.”
The next day all the secret policemen were back at the basement for their prep.
“This one better work,” twenty said.
“Oh it will,” responded Mayor Bridges, “Ten!” “Did you disable the alarms and cameras!”
“Yep, at midnight they’ll be off!” he responded.
“Good!”
The second hand just hit the twelve making it midnight. Time to strike and of course they would be dressed in usual black. BOOM! The doors were kicked open. Two guards heard this and came running to the door, guns drawn. They saw nothing, heard nothing. As soon as they turned around, they realized something was there. SNAP! SNAP! The guards lay down on the ground, dead with their necks snapped.
“Ok!” “First item on the list, is the mini statue of John Lennon…made of 24 karat gold,” Twenty-four said to them all.
Twelve men stayed behind to keep lookout while the other twelve went to the second floor. But when they got there they ran into a problem.
“The glass surrounding it is bulletproof!” two shouted.
“No problem guys, the mayor already thought of that!” four said, taking out what looked like a laser pointer. He carved a hole in the glass and laughed. “No alarms, this is too easy!” he thought. He reached out and put his hand through the glass and pulled out the statue.
BANG! His hand was bleeding like crazy. “My hand’s been shot!” four shouted. He dropped the statue and it shattered into hundreds, maybe even thousands of pieces.
Twenty-four ducked, as all the others did, and turned around. He couldn’t see anybody. But wait! He heard a footstep trying to head down the stairs. So twenty-four ran to where the stairs were and jumped over the rail.
He didn’t even think of his next actions. Swoop! The silencer on his gun made it so quiet he wondered if he even shot at whoever had shot at four. Twenty-four focused on the scene. Yes! He had hit a man right between the eyes. “Not bad for a blind shot,” he said to himself.
It turned out it was just another security guard hoping to stop the intruders. Twenty-four walked back to the rest of the guys.
“He’s been hit pretty badly,” two said told him.
“It’s okay, just wrap it up, we’ll fix it when we return,” twenty-four responded.
“Well next item on the list in a platinum watch worn by President Clinton, worth over fourteen million dollars,” thirteen told the rest of the guys.
They all went down to the first floor, met up with the rest of the team and headed to the back of the museum. When they found the watch, they burned a hole in the glass, grabbed the watch, and put it in a brown leather bag.
They replaced it with a note that said:
Dear citizens of Kirkson,
We warned you once, we’ll warn you again. Southland is number one when it comes to the best city around. We are prepared to kill anyone from Kirkson, even if you are on our side. Prepare for the worst,
Some angry citizens from Southland
Well, next item is the painting of early barns in Kirkson,” thirteen said.
They all walked to the other side of the museum and found the painting. It was huge and impossible to put in the leather bag.
“We burn it!” twelve suggested.
“Good idea,” twenty-four said.
They lit it from the bottom right corner and watched it burn. While that was going on number three put up a note, like the previous one, right on the wall where the painting was.
“Anything else on the list?” number twenty-four asked.
“Nope, let’s head out,” number four responded.
As they rounded the corner towards the door they stopped. Cops were everywhere, hundreds, at least the whole Kirkson squad, which was three hundred and thirty-one. Most of them were at the door, but all were holding a gun.
